Military USAF Mess Dress/Tuxedo Party Shirts

When I went to my first military ball with Michael, I was so surprised to see his formal, white Mess Dress shirt transform into this amazing pink skull and cross bone shirt when he took off his jacket.  Michael said he purchased the shirt in Korea many years ago. It was a tradition in his fighter squadron to wear these custom shirts during formal dining events. People were taken back by the colorful shirt patterns which showed how much a party person the pilot was at the event.

After years of wearing the same shirt, I decided to make him some new ones. The mess dress shirt costs about $35.00 at the military clothing and sales store on base. I used two yards of cotton fabric which cost anywhere from $16.00 to $25.00 depending on the fabric. It took me about eight hours to make one shirt from start to finish. The hardest part was ripping out the sleeves, cuffs  and back of the shirt.

Since making his shirt, a number of people have contacted me to make them a shirt. So, I have decided to expand my hobby and offer to make these shirts for others. If you are interested in ordering a shirt, please send an email to bojsan@aol.com.  You can provide the shirt and material if you want.

Shirt cost - Average price $35.00

Material - Anywhere from $16.00 to $25.00 depending on what you want.

Labor - $50.00 (turns out to be about $6.00 per hour)

Shipping...will let you know the price.

I found this fabric company  that has the best material for these shirts.
